In June 2020, I started a blog called The Master Comp (https://themastercomp.com/) during the pandemic as a way to share my thoughts and recommendations to my students.

On Thursday, August 28 2021, the web host that I am with, WHC.ca had a major server outage. The reason they gave was that someone with admin privileges re-imaged all their servers essentially wiping all the data. It has been 5 days since the incident and my website hasn’t been restored.

Moments like this shows how lax these companies are with your data and had no protocol to protect such things from happening. While I am sure they will eventually restore what they can and make sure this doesn’t happen again, I decided that they are more trouble than they are worth.

While I lost months of work, I considered myself lucky. Losing an entire website with no guarantee for recovery for a small business can spell doom especially in this economy.

Right now I am hoping to get my site recovered, export all the data and cancel my account. Hopefully I can get a refund for the months left over.

I am tired of these kinds of companies cutting corners and their made up policies to protect themselves from their own incompetence.

With that out of the way, Welcome to my new Blog; https://blog.heyganz.com/ currently hosted by https://www.siteground.com/

P.S I will be redirecting https://themastercomp.com/ to this address in a few days.
